The year 2010 is going to see a lot of new tablets. I am sure there would be a few tablets better than the iPad, a few would be competitive and some wannabe’s. Where would you fit a 11.6″ Android powered tablet with its own App Store and access to the Android Market?
Neofonie, a German company in strategic partnership with Siemens have developed the WePad. The WePad boasts of some decent features including Android OS, 11.6″ touchscreen, 1366 x 768 pixel display, a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N450 processor, GMA 3150 graphics, Webcam, 2 USB ports, a 3 in1 card reader and a UMTS modem. On a full charge, the tablet would allow 6 hours of internet browsing with Flash and Java support. The connectivity options include Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi and optional 3G. At 288 x 190 x 13 mm, the WePad would weigh 800 grams.
The company would be introducing a WePad application store during the launch of the product. The tablet would also have access to all the applications on the Android Market. The pricing and availability of the tablet has not been released yet but seeing the battery life I am already disappointed. Something innovative like the Adam’s PixelQI screen would have been so much better!
