HTC Supersonic has been into rumors for quite some time now. If the report from WSJ is to be believed, the phone would be announced officially next week at CTIA 2010. WSJ reports that Sprint’s CEO, Dan Hesse would unveil the first ever 4G phone during the event.
HTC Supersonic would be the first phone to feature WiMax. Sprint would be using Clearwire service to allow its customer’s to connect to WiMax. Clearwire is a WiMax service provider with Sprint as a major investor in the network. It is also said that Sprint would be paying Clearwire a fee for every WiMax customer.
1GHz Snapdragon processor powered, 4.3″ display and Android OS 2.1 phone with the HTC Sense UI could give a jump to the struggling Sprint network. HTC Supersonic would make a lot of smartphones feel not-so-smart-anymore. More on the phone when it becomes official next week, if it does. Till then, check out a leaked video of the phone after the jump.
