Vodafone has launched its mobile WiFi Hotspot device that can connect upto five simultaneous users to get access to (high-speed) internet service. The credit-card sized “MiFi 2352″ permits users present within a 10 meters range to be connected. This hotspot can also be used as a 3G modem via a USB connection to a laptop.
The MiFi 2352 allows for a maximum of 7.2 mbps while downloading, and 5.7 mbps while uploading. The bandwidth would obviously have to be shared by the number of users connected. The Hotspot can work work for 4 hours when its rechargeable battery is fully charged. The device also has a 16GB in internal memory storage to share files and documents.
“The Vodafone Mobile Broadband Hotspot offers mobile professionals, students and families a one-touch connectivity solution that turns Wi-Fi-enabled devices such as MP3 players and laptops into connected mobile internet devices,” said Vodafone mobile broadband director Huw Medcraft.
Initially, the device will be available only in Germany, Romania and Spain. It would cost about £25 with a tariff plan from Vodafone in Spain.
