Sony may have solved the issue of backwards compatibility for the upcoming PSPGo. On the flip side, those of you who were worried that the new PSPGo wasn’t going to be compatible with the current PSP accessories, will now have something else to worry about.
Sony unveiled its Converter Cable Adaptor which, when attached to the PSPGo (as shown in picture above), will allow its user to connect the current PSP accessories. The adaptor will wrap around the PSPGo and is said to be compatible with peripherals like 1Seg Tuner, GPS Receiver and PSP camera.
“With the new Converter Cable Adaptor, PSPgo users will be able to utilize the existing peripherals for PSP,” Sony announced at the Tokyo Game Show on September 24, 2009.
While the abovementioned quote is true, mounting accessories atop this bulky adaptor (while attached to the PSPGo, mind you!) will definitely bring the most important part of the PSP into question, namely its portability. We believe that you’d be better off dropping some money for new peripherals instead, but *then* you’ll be faced with the expensive aspect of this option. Oh the dilemma!
