Targeting this increasing demand for portable media, Samsung has announced two new external Hard Drives to boost its external storage lineup. The new S line hard drives have a storage capacity of 640Gb and 2Tb. Both these drives break the previous barrier of 500Gb sleek external drives from Samsung. The stylish S2 (640Gb) drive is 2.5″ long whereas the S3 (2Tb) is 3.5″ long.
"As consumer demands continue to escalate for storing personal data, music and video files, Samsung has expanded its extensive family of external hard drives to support the growing personal storage market. The new drives provide users with a sleek design and high-density choices in both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch form factors." says Cheol-hee Lee, VP of Marketing and storage systems division at Samsung Electronics.
Both the drives feature Safety Key, Secret Zone and Auto Backup functionality. The 640Gb S2 hard drive is expected to hit the shelves by the end of this month whereas the 2Tb S3 would be available in the first quarter 2010. No news on pricing as of now.
