TXTBlocker puts a stop to texting while driving

txtblocker

Texting while driving has been proved more dangerous that talking on the phone while behind the wheel. Some people however *cough parents* *cough employers* might find this new mobile application quite useful. The THTBlocker has found way to reduce texting habits by blocking text messages, and other ohone services, while the user is driving.

TXTBlocker uses the phones GPS to detect the velocity and determine if the user is driving. The application automatically activates when the GPS shows the user moving faster than a certain speed. After activation, TXTBlocker can also be set to send an automated reply to all the messages received, and have calls be diverted to voicemail. Users can also define a “safe-list” from whom text messages and phone calls would not be blocked. Emergency numbers are always open.

For those who are in a car but are either not driving or  are using  their hands-free sets, the software can be configured to allow calls and messages by using an online account.

TXTBlocker is currently compatible with a limited list of Windows Mobile phones and some Blackberry models. The mobile application be available for US$9.99 per month, with an initial setup fee of $24.99 – which also includes the first month’s rental.
