For a long time the Samsung Corby / Star series went without any competition, however Nokia has finally got cheaper versions of the 5800 out in the market to compete in the low-cost touchscreen segment. The Nokia 5230 costs Rs 8000 approx and the 5530 goes for Rs 11750. But does this come on time to take on the Corby Pro and Corby S3653, or even the LG Cookie?? IMO the usability and use of internet on the Nokia Symbian platform is much better than what Corby offers and serious users would go for the 5230 / 5530 (though both of them lack a capacitive touchscreen). However in this segment of the market looks sell and that’s what Samsung has on its side! Anyways here are your options with Nokia…

Both the phones have the same Symbian OS, Nokia 5230’s display is slight bigger at 3.2″ whereas the 5530 is 2.9″. The 5230 packs a 2MP camera, Bluetooth, GPS however leaves out WiFi. Wonder why GPS has been preferred over WiFi here? Phones sell quite well over social media integration I suppose, but Nokia is leaving the internet only for highend business phones it seems. The 5530 on the other hand has a much better 3.15 camera with flash and features WiFi aswell. The 5530 however leaves out both 3G and GPS. If you are really looking for a smaller and slightly cheaper version of the 5800 then perhaps 5530 should suit you better, but IMO Nokia manages to give only little competition to the Corby / Star series in the sub Rs 10000 market with the 5230 (they needed more than just vibrant back covers to pull this off).
