Ideapad, Eee Pad, iPad … the tablets are suddenly buzzing in numbers. And an amusing fact that everyone has a similar name. Wonder why this love for the suffix Pad. Anyways earlier rumored and now confirmed, the Asus Eee Pad (as revealed by Asus Corporate VP Eric Chen) is powered by an ARM CPU and is 3G capable. And that’s not all we hear, the exec further goes on to say that Asus has taken keen interest in developing the UI for its tablet and we can expect some good innovative interface.
No info on what operating system Asus is playing with, but Android and Windows 7 are the rumored ones. But if they are customizing it significantly, then it has to be Android and not Windows 7.
“A slate? Yes, sure. We have the Eee Pad. Which right now is still under development. Basically, it will have an ARM CPU and a 3G connection so you are always connected to the internet, so just like with the Eee Book you are always connected. [techreport]
