Nikon Unveils the World's First Projector Camera

After last week’s announcement, one would expect Nikon to take a breather, but they’re at it again, revealing four new Coolpix cameras including the world’s first camera with a built-in projector.

With one touch, the Nikon Coolpix S1000pj can project images up to 40 inches at 2 meters with a VGA resolution. A remote is included that allows wireless operation of both the projector and camera functions. The rest is pretty standard for a modern point-and-shoot camera. It features a 12.1 megapixel CCD sensor, an optically stabilized 5x zoom lens (28-140mm equivalent,) and a 2.7″ LCD screen. The new camera will be available in September with a recommended price of $429.95.

Nikon also announced the Coolpix S70, which features a 3.5″ touch-sensitive OLED screen, the Coolpix S640, which is claimed to be as fast as a DSLR, and the Coolpix S570, which is basically the new S640 minus a few features.
