Microsoft OneApp to smarten the feature phones

Microsoft is showing some serious involvement in the mobile industry. After a tie-up with Nokia, Microsoft has introduced a mobile application for the feature phones. The OneApp has been introduced for feature phones to have more power like the smartphones. OneApp would bring social network access along with some other features to the feature phones. This application would mark the entry of Microsoft into the non-smartphone segment or the phones that do not feature a Windows MobileOS mostly.

The most interesting features of the OneApp are the social networking access via Facebook, Twitter and Windows Live Messenger. The users of OneApp would be able to personalize these features and access the service at a lower rate than what applies to the regular smartphone applications.

OneApp would be the a lite 150KB application with social networking and other add-on of 30KB each. Also, OneApp allows the access of these applications online which means that the application would not require too much  space or data to be stored in the mobile phone.

"With a GPRS-enabled cell phone, consumers can now be part of the app experience, which is taking the world by storm," says Mark Levy, joint CEO of Blue Label Telecoms. "While this opens up a whole new world of opportunity for any and all users, advertisers and developers, we're particularly excited by the technology's capacity to transform nearly any cell phone into a highly sophisticated, cost-effective and user-friendly transactional device."

The application would first be launched in South Africa and later to the other parts of the world. Video Downstairs.
