World's Lightest HD-Camcorder Released by Panasonic

Lightest HD-Camcorder

Panasonic has released the HDC-SD10 and HDC-TM10 HD camcorders.  Both models weigh in at only a 1/2 LB, and despite it’s small form factor has 16x optical zoom.  The zoom is assisted by Panasonic’s Advanced OIS (Optical Image Stabilizer) functionality to achieve clear zooming and reducing hand-shake by correcting the picture around 4,000 times per second.  The Advanced OIS is great for providing high quality zooming, stability, especially while walking or moving.  The camcorders  produce Full-HD video at a 1920 x 1080 resolution giving this easy to use camcorder a beautiful picture for your high-definition video recording needs.

The HDC-S10 records it’s video to to a SDHC/SD Memory Card and the HDC-TM10 uses both an 8GB Built-in Memory and an SDHC/SD Memory Card.  The fact that these camcorders use flash memory make the transfer of video easy, while keeping them shock-resistant and enabling speedy recording starts, making it great for those candid moments with the family.  The HDC-TM10 features Relay Recording allowing it to switch to the Memory Card when the internal memory reaches capacity.  To make the video seamless after Relay Recording the video can be merged inside the camcorder and saved to an SDHC/SD Memory Card.

Some very beneficial additional features include:

  • A touch screen with function buttons
  • A quick 1.9-second power-on, which allows for Eco mode which automatically turns the power off when not in use for five minutes.
  • A Pre-Rec function which records the three seconds that happened before the record button was pressed.
  • Auto Power LCD, automatically adjusting the brightness of the LCD depending on the environmental conditions.
  • Built-in light and flash.
  • Highlight playback that very rapidly produces “highlights” for playback at a set time interval.
  • One-Touch copy of video to DVD with the BN1 DVD Burner.

Compatibility with Panasonic’s VIERA Link to allow easy viewing of HD video content and can use the VIERA Image Viewer function on a VIERA HDTV.  Video’s can be played by simply inserting a Memory Card into the SD Card slot on a Panasonic VIERA HDTV.

The suggested retail prices for the HDC-SD10 and HDC-TM10 are $549.95 and $599.95 respectively.
