Soon after it accidentally leaked out a promotional video of the E72, Nokia actually made the phone official. The E72 was announced with another device the Nokia 5530 in Singapore. While the E72 is an upgrade to the popular E71, the 5530 is placed a little below the Nokia 5800 as rumored back in April.
Nokia 5530 has a different UI that offers a quick access to top 20 contacts in your device via a ‘people carousel’ tab and updates you on their latest interactions online. This is coupled with a one touch button to access facebook or myspace. Targeted at the youth the 5530 is a touchscreen media device with 3.2MP camera, WiFi, Edge (no 3G), 70MB internal memory and 4GB MicroSD card free in the box.
E72 on the other hand is a high end business communication device with all extreme features studded into a E71 bar. It features HSDPA, 10.2 Mbps; 5MP camera with flash light, Ovi integration, 3.5mm headphone jack etc. The features are quite in line with what we expected. E72 is powered by a 1500 mAh battery that should give good backup. A 250MB internal memory and Micro SDHC capabilities are also packed in.
With this announcement Nokia now has 3 full touchscreens and 3 QWERTY devices. The low end touchscreen and QWERTY are the newly announced 5530 and the E63, the medium level handsets are the 5800 and the E71, whereas the top range models are the N97 and E72. Seems like Nokia bas a bag full of options for everyone here!
