OG Picks: Top 5 mobiles to buy this Christmas

With Christmas / New Year around the corner its time for many of us to head out shopping for their dream gadgets. Here is a quick list of 5 mobiles that you may consider picking up this Holiday Season.

  • Nokia E72: The E72 is feature packed and the smartest offering by Nokia yet. This is certainly recommended over the N97 / 97 mini or the N900, as I feel Nokia is yet to deliver a competitive touchscreen product. But the E72 as we reviewed before gives even the Blackberry a run for its money. (The reason I start this list with a Nokia is the global reach that it has, we are tired of waiting for the 3GS to launch in India and eagerly await the Palm Pre / Motorola Droid – Milestone). If you are looking for a cheaper option the E63 is also cool, but the E72 is well priced.

  • iPhone 3GS: iPhone 3GS is one of the strongest smartphones and we find ourselves writing about it every other day. If you are comfortable with the onscreen keyboard, this should give you the best Internet experience possible on a cellphone. Not to forget the amazing apps to. On the downside the 3GS comes with a expensive AT&T contract in US and a high price tag around the globe.

  • Samsung Corby: Probably the cheapest touchscreen device in the market to sport a capacitive display. This is trendy and cheap, but don’t expect to do any serious internet on this. Corby is no smartphone, but a good handset to carry around, if you aren’t a power-user.

  • Motorola Droid / Milestone: The best Android device and Times gadget of the year! Verizon’s  Droid or Milestone as it is known to rest of the world, this Android 2.0 device marks the return of Motorola. A physical QWERTY, large touchscreen (3.7″) and Android 2.0 OS does the trick. Also bonus Google love with the turn by turn GPS navigation software.

    • Palm Pre: Though the Palm Pre doesn’t delivery extreme features like the Motorola Droid, but the WebOS combined with the design impresses me enough to want this on my birthday.
