Sony Ericsson has introduced two new phones from its Greenheart portfolio. The handsets, Hazel and Elm, provide an environment-friendly option to users without compromising on design or functionality. The handsets are made from recycled plastics, are free from hazardous chemicals, have in-phone manuals and many other features that makes them green at heart.

Hazel

The features of both the handsets are quite similar. They also have support for in-built social networking via sites such as YouTube, MySpace, Facebook and Twitter. Both of these handsets will also support an online backup on the SE website. The online backup would help to recover phone data in case of a theft. The multimedia support includes SensMe, TrackID, and MegaBass.
The difference in the two lies in the dimensions, form factor and the screen size. While the Hazel is 102 x 49.5 x 16 mm and weighs 120g, the Elm is 110 x 45 x 14 mm and weighs only 90g. The Hazel features a 2.6″ TFT touchscreen, and the Elm features a 2.2″ screen without touch support. The Hazel is a slider while the Elm is a candybar phone.
Sony Ericsson Hazel will be available in two colours – Superior Black and Passionate Rouge, from Q2 2010. The SE Elm is expected to be available in two colours – Metal Black and Pearly Rose, from Q1 2010.
