Samsung seems to be competing hard with Sony Ericsson in camera phones segment. Sony has its Idou 12MP coming up (now named Satio) while Samsung has its Pixon which received a 12MP bump recently (Pixon M8910). However leaked images of a 12MP Samsung camera phone with 3x OPTICAL ZOOM has been posted by Gsmarena. The phone is said to be powered by Samsungs TouchWiz UI.
The megapixel trend tells me that smartphones will soon catchup with our normal point to shoot digital cameras. If my intuition is to be believed, there are several more optical zoomers* coming this year (from multiple manufacturers).
Samsung has its press conference scheduled for June 15, though we expect details on i7500, this might well drop in there.
